ROLLING THE DICE
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BUY THE CHEAPEST 911 ON THE MARKET?
Air-cooled Porsche values are going up. If you have a small budget like me, but REALLY want an air-cooled 911, what do you do? If you keep saving up money for a year or two, you risk being priced out of the market altogether. If you buy the cheapest car available, you risk spending more money – not to mention blood, sweat, and tears, to get to the same point.
MAKE LEMONADE
Last year, my 1962 Karmann Ghia was rear-ended by a Ford Excursion. Apparently Ghia values are on the rise too, and insurance paid out $3000 more than I had into the car. A neighbor had told me about an old 911 that had been sitting in a nearby driveway for years. I knocked on the door and the owner’s wife said she would love to sell it. He wasn’t so easily convinced.
